from the GGMG president...

Jean

So many wonderful (and intimidating) role models I had as former GGMG presidents: Ann Friedel, who despite a full-time job involving travel, appeared at every event and meeting; Terry Gentry, with her encyclopedic plant knowledge; Marian St.Clair, known to gardeners internationally; Evelyn Onofrio, twice symposium chairperson; and Karen LaFleur-Stewart, who devoted two years to the presidency. Despite having had reservations about following these wonderful leaders, I have had a wonderful year, and it’s all due to you.

This must be the easiest job in the world because all of you do the work. As a result, all I have had to do is to sit back and watch you carry on. Is it because you are gardeners or just wonderful people? I suspect it’s a little of both, but the process has been amazing to witness. Even though I feel as though I have just begun,it’s almost time to retreat into the past presidency. On May 7, the oh-so-capable Anita Humphries will assume the leadership of this important group, and GGMG will move on to even greater success.

I will see you at meetings, at the Plant Sale, in the gardens, at the symposium, on field trips and tours, at the Ask-a-Master Gardener table.

Thank you for this year—and all you do for GGMG!!

                                          – Jean Lindsey
